One of the rather controversial figures of the Great Patriotic War is Army General Dmitry Grigorievich Pavlov. Who was he? An enemy, a fool or just a victim of circumstances? It is to Pavlov that we owe the creation of the famous T-34, and although he himself did not directly participate in its creation, it was he, as the head of the Main Armored Directorate, after the experience of fighting in Spain, who initiated work on the creation of a new tank with anti-ballistic armor, a diesel engine and 76 mm cannon. As for his activities as the head of the Western Military District, it is difficult to withstand the enemy’s blow when your hands are tied, especially when the higher authorities want to cover their asses with you. My personal opinion: Pavlov was simply made a scapegoat, blaming other people’s mistakes on him. What if the opportunity arises to replay this, how will events develop then?
