Fairy tales occupy a large place in the inner world of young children; it turns out that fairy tale motifs play an important role not only in the minds of adults, but also in their unconscious. Numerous cases described in Hans Dieckmann’s book reveal the deepest connections between a child’s favorite fairy tale and his later fate; fairy tale motifs turn out to be decisive for the formation of personality, both in a positive and negative sense. In his book, the author shows how a fairy tale can influence the behavior of adults and their mental life. Moreover, he demonstrates how such influence can be used to cure a pathological process. The Appendix contains chapters from Hans Diekmann's famous book “Methods of Analytical Psychology”. They detail the methods of Jungian psychotherapy, in particular, explaining their difference from standard psychoanalytic techniques.
