Izumi lives with her mother, goes to a regular school, has fun with her best friends and dreams of finding out who her father is. And then one day she discovers that she is the princess of Japan! Inspired by this fact and wanting to finally meet her dad, Izumi flies to Japan.

Izumi soon realizes: being a princess is not only about wearing chic dresses and pearls... it also means strange relatives; crazy press that gets into your personal life; thousands of traditions and customs - and all of them need to be learned almost overnight; and also a gloomy but handsome bodyguard, who, fortunately, understands her better than anyone in the world. Izumi finds herself caught between worlds and between two versions of herself: at home she was never “American” enough, and in Japan she needs to prove that she is “Japanese” enough.
