In the book “Behind the Scenes,” like in a movie, several lines develop in parallel. The first line is a narrative about the work of the autonomic nervous system. With a wit no less than that of the creators of the cartoon “Inside Out,” Svetlana Jackson tells what different “I”s are jostling in the “living room” of our consciousness and how they can be reconciled.
The second line is dedicated to the life of the author (she the heroine of the story). This heroine may be confused, scared, awkward, but she finds a way out of different situations, thanks to humor and, of course, professional knowledge, because she understands that people's reactions are normal, and they have much more power to manage their emotional life than they sometimes do think.
The third line is a series of psychological consultations. The author gave only the roles of clients to the main characters of famous films and TV series, who, according to the will of her imagination, come to see her and ultimately achieve success in their personal struggle with psychological problems.
The book introduces techniques that help achieve peace of mind, and teaches you to understand your needs, recognizing what exactly you need now: eat, drink water, walk, communicate with people, or just breathe.
Features
– Illustrated with drawings by Mina Milk, which successfully complement the narrative. Her drawing adorns the cover.
– Unusual layout (the dialogues between the psychologist and the client are originally designed).
– A lot of references not only to specialized literature, but also to films, TV series, videos on YouTube.
– Svetlana Jackson was pushed to write a book by her husband, and while she was writing, her sons and cats inspired her.
– All these people systematically looked into their off-screen lives and reversed the consequences different forms of emotional negligence, like a picture on a reverse glass. Their stories show that sometimes, in order to truly see ourselves, we need to turn over what we know about ourselves.
For whom
