In the novel “Doll on a Chain,” dedicated to the fight of Interpol against the international drug trade, the action takes place against the backdrop of a predominantly night-time Amsterdam with its foggy canals and the tense atmosphere of the port brothels. The excellent language of the work is combined with a somewhat ironic manner of storytelling and typically English humor, which does not leave the hero even in hopeless situations.
