Nahum Nim's previous novel was awarded the Strugatsky Brothers Prize; it was considered fantastic. This novel is also a kind of fantasy - it is so fantastically real and accurate. The time of action is known - more than thirty years ago, May 28, 1986 (remember, this is the day the German pilot Matthias Rust landed on Vasilievsky Spusk near the Kremlin). The location of the action is known - the town of Bogushevsk, infinitely far from the Kremlin, in the Vitebsk region. Everything is known that then happened to the country and its inhabitants. So that nothing is left completely unknown, let’s decipher the title of the book: “Yubi” is the call “Love” in the phonetics of one of the heroes, a teenager, as they would say now, with special needs, but then simply called a moron. The preface to the novel was written by Dmitry Bykov, who sincerely admired both the book and its author. “Before you is one of the main books of one of the main Russian writers. Someday this will be clear to everyone,” Bykov promises. In order not to wait thirty years again and immediately become one of those to whom everything will become clear now, you should definitely read the book.
