The Kuban Cossack Army was part of the Cossacks in pre-revolutionary Russia and was located in the Kuban region (now the Krasnodar Territory and part of the Stavropol Territory) with its center in Ekaterinodar (now Krasnodar). It was formed in 1860 from the Black Sea Cossack army and part of the Caucasian linear Cossack army. Historically, the Kuban people have always been considered a reliable stronghold of Russia, and therefore the Kuban Cossack Army actively participated in all the wars waged by Russia in the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries. The book by F. A. Shcherbina and E. D. Felitsyn, first published in 1888 under the title “Kuban Cossack Army. 1696–1888,” tells about the history of the Kuban Cossacks and the military exploits of the Russian army for the glory of the Fatherland.
