One of the greatest Poles of the twentieth century, courier of the underground Home Army, founder of the Polish section of Radio Free Europe, politician and publicist Jan Nowak-Jezioranski was able to foresee a lot in his thoughts about Poland’s relations with its eastern neighbors. Without his articles and his polemics with Jerzy Giedroyc, it is quite difficult to understand how the Poles see the security problems of their state, why they were so eager to join the North Atlantic Alliance and how they would like to develop their relations with Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania. In 2014, the Collegium Eastern Europe in Wroclaw, which was founded by Jan Nowak-Jezioranski and bears his name, and the Ossolineum (National Ossolinski Institute) published a collection of his articles on the foreign policy of the Third Republic of Poland. In the original it is called Rzeczpospolita atlantycka ("Atlantic Republic"). This collection represents an abridged version of this edition.
