Harry Bear's book of prose "Strange House, Nymphets and Other Stories" includes five works created by the writer in the early to mid-1990s. The story “The Strange House” is written in the style of a “Gothic short story”; this is the genre variety that was successfully used by the classics of the genre - E. Poe, E.T. Hoffman, A. Dumas. The stories “The Death of a Musician” and “A Trip to Odessos” are quite realistic works with simple plots, but deep psychological tension does not leave the reader until the very end of the story. The scandalous morality story “Nymphets” and the essay “Nabakoff”, according to the author, represent , along with the novel Albatross, a complementary text called Post Modern. In 2003, G. Bear ironically stated in one of his comments to “Albatross”: “To paraphrase the famous words of V. Solovyov, I liked to repeat at that historical time: “Postmodernism!” Although the name is wild, it pleases my ears." According to the Chelyabinsk poet Yu. Popov, "... any text by Harry Bear is not immediately revealed; it presupposes that the reader has a certain skill in recognizing the cultural code and dialogue with the author.” And this book provides the reader with the opportunity for such a dialogue.
