Man is accustomed to considering himself the crown of creation: his strengths are the norm, and his weaknesses are a deviation. The author’s approach is fundamentally different: we are inherently imperfect; Our brain, like our body, was formed quite accidentally during evolution, from the “available materials” of nature and is a so-called kludge - an absurd, clumsy, but surprisingly effective solution to the problem. The concept of kludge sheds light on important aspects of our lives and explains many of the problems we face. The author's conclusions are optimistic: having a proper understanding of the balance of strengths and weaknesses of the human mind, we have the opportunity to help not only ourselves, but also society.
