Gennady Evgenievich Vasiliev, veteran of Afghanistan, political officer of the 5th motorized rifle company of the 860th motorized infantry regiment, Faizabad (1983–1985). He took part in raids, ambushes, landings, escorting convoys, emerging from minefields, carrying the wounded from the battlefield... His poignant work continues the publisher’s series dedicated to hot spots. Like all previous Afghan authors, Vasiliev wrote a book based on his personal experiences in Afghanistan. Perhaps the thing is not 100% documentary prose, something is conjectural, something carries the personal attitude of the author, and we are all living people with our own vision and experiences. But! This in no way detracts from the value, but, on the contrary, adds color to the book, which vividly, truthfully and reliably describes the events taking place in the mountains of Faizabad. The author writes figuratively, his descriptions are spectacular, the plot twists are non-standard. In addition to the military theme, there is humanism and kindness, love and betrayal... War is like war!
