The full story of the hidden side of Hemingway's life, including connections with the Soviet intelligence services and such American agencies as the FBI, State Department, Naval Intelligence and the Office of Strategic Services, the predecessor of the CIA. The book is a literary biography, written in the spirit of a thriller. It significantly expands existing ideas about the mysterious personality of Papa Ham and is addressed to all admirers of his work and lovers of spy stories. Hemingway was always drawn to danger, risk and secret operations. An ardent anti-fascist, he strived with an almost morbid obsession to participate in intelligence activities and battles on two continents. He was captivated by the war in Spain, he traveled to China at the height of the Sino-Japanese War, hunted German submarines in the Caribbean, took part in the liberation of Paris, and finally supported the revolution in Cuba and the rise to power of the Castro regime. Participation in these events brought impressions and served as food for creativity, but in the end it became one of the reasons for his tragic end.
