Almost by accident, Aldous Huxley created a book that became a cult text for thousands of radical intellectuals in the 1960s. “The Doors of Perception” gave the name to the famous group “The Doors”. Huxley's followers include William Burroughs, Ken Kesey, Tom Wolfe and Carlos Castaneda. All his life, the author of the most famous utopia of the 20th century, “Brave New World,” was looking for a formula for universal happiness. Experimenting with various psychedelics, he set himself the task of finding a means of expanding consciousness that would enable mere mortals to penetrate into areas previously accessible only to visionaries, mystics, great ascetics and prophets.
