A course of lectures on the history of ancient drama was given by I. F. Annensky (1855-1909) at the Higher Historical, Literary and Legal Courses of Rasva in 1908-1909. In the 1910s. Based on the listeners' notes, a lithographed collection was published in a limited number of copies. One of these rare copies has been preserved in the collection of the St. Petersburg State Theater Library. This edition is supplemented by unpublished materials from Annensky’s personal collection related to the history of ancient drama.
