The book is dedicated to the fate of the Russian Word, the tragic pages of our literature. It tells about writers who were killed or persecuted by the totalitarian regime. The narrative is based on new materials that were until recently closed to society - documents and manuscripts that the author discovered and examined while working in the archives of the KGB and the USSR Prosecutor's Office as the organizer and head of the Commission on Creative Arts. the legacy of repressed writers in Russia. Among the heroes of the book are famous names such as Nikolai Gumilyov and Anna Akhmatova, and lesser-known but bright talents who were executed and perished on the islands of the Gulag. The book is the result of the author’s many years of work on this topic, which is also the subject of his other books - “Slaves” Freedom" (Moscow, 1995) and "Denunciation of Socrates" (Moscow, 2001). The publication is illustrated with rare archival photographs and documents.
