The book “Aces, Queens, Jacks...” presents a never before published collection of cartoons by the director of the imperial theaters I. A. Vsevolozhsky, depicting Russian society in the era of Alexander III. The drawings were created in the period of the 1880-1890s, that is, during what was iconically called the “golden age of the Russian imperial theater.” Vsevolozhsky's remarkable caricatures closely weave together power, society, court, money and theater, painting a lively and fascinating picture of imperial Russia. The chic and elegance of court life, which Vsevolozhskoy knew very well, are reflected in the mirror of wit, not without poison, which makes you look at this era from a slightly different, not entirely familiar angle.
