On May 30, 1593, the most scandalous and most talented playwright of “pre-Shakespearean” England, Christopher Marlowe, was stabbed to death in a drunken brawl. The coroner rendered a verdict - the murder was committed in self-defense. But historians for centuries have linked Marlowe’s death with his activities “in the secret service of Her Majesty” Elizabeth I. And now, centuries later, a mysterious manuscript falls into the hands of New York student Kate Morgan, moonlighting as a private detective, which may shed light on Marlowe's last case, and the mystery of his murder. However, the further Kate’s investigation goes, the more clearly she understands that someone really doesn’t want the history of the 16th century to come out. They don’t want it so much that Kate could repeat Marlowe’s fate at any moment.
