Once in the wilderness, journalist Leonid Monchinsky met a family: an old mother and an already middle-aged son, a peasant and a hunter. They were once exiled as members of the family of an enemy of the people. Their biographies reflected the tragedy of the establishment of Soviet power in Siberia. It became the plot of the story “Forgiveness Sunday.” Turning to the topic of the Civil War, the author seeks to get away from unambiguous characteristics. His red ones are not angels at all, but those who were against them are also without a halo over their heads. The war is shown as a cruel and bloody, and by and large, meaningless confrontation between strong men. Reading the story even today is hard mental work. Then she made a simply shocking impression. The publication of Forgiveness Sunday in the USSR was unthinkable. It was published abroad in the magazine "Veche". Much later, this work was awarded the Vasily Shukshin Literary Prize and will become the literary basis for the script of the film "Wolf's Blood", filmed in 1995 by Nikolai Istanbula
