Historical novel by the Iranian writer Muhammad-Kazem Mazinani (1963) “The Last Padishah.” The last days of the life of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, dying of cancer in an Egyptian clinic, are at the same time a long and difficult story of this life, shown from a variety of angles. In form, this is a lengthy appeal - first to the Shah, then to his wife - and at first it is an anonymous appeal: the reader does not immediately learn anything about the narrator. This narrator is very skilled: in particular, in his ability to create an image of the addressee, to look at what is happening from different points of view.
