Brigitte Hamann (1940–2016) is a scientist and author of many biographies of historical figures who determined the destinies of Austria and the whole world. Materials for a book about Adolf Hitler and his stay in Vienna in 1907–13. the writer collected for almost twenty years, meticulously researching sources and discovering a number of unknown documents. According to Hamann, the very character of the dictator was formed precisely during the years of semi-beggarly ordeals in the capital of Austria-Hungary. Among the musicians, poets and artists who glorified Vienna at the beginning of the century, there was no place for the mediocre and envious provincial Hitler. But here he learned hatred of everything foreign and a frantic desire to unite under the German banner, a passion for demagoguery and a thirst to control public consciousness.
