“Bluebeard's Mistake” is a mystical, fantasy novel with elements of humor and horror. Did you know that the fairy-tale character Bluebeard had a real prototype? And not just any ordinary wife-killer, but Joan of Arc’s comrade-in-arms, Baron de Rais. The transformation of the hero into a maniac served as the basis of the plot. Despite the fact that there are rivers of blood and other horror stories, the novel does not leave a heavy impression. It's a fun, easy read. The story begins quite innocently: Parisian students Jules and Jeannette are walking around the Ile de la Cité, enjoying the ancient architecture and each other's company. Out of the blue, strange things begin to happen. After which the young people find themselves in Bluebeard's castle in the company of notorious historical maniacs - like Al Capone, Saltychikha and others.
