The novel reflects a difficult period in our history associated with the creation of the Murmansk Railway and the formation of the Arctic Ocean flotilla, from which the heroic Northern Fleet was later born. The Russian cruiser Askold began combat service in the Dardanelles operation, and entered the revolution as a ship of the Northern Flotilla. Most of the novel is devoted to the fight against the invaders in Murman, Arkhangelsk, and Karelia.

Роман "З глухого кута" - це справжній літературний шедевр, який майстерно відображає складний період нашої історії. Автор зумів передати атмосферу тих часів, коли створення Мурманської залізниці та формування флотилії Північного Льодовитого океану стали важливими етапами в історії Росії. Читачі занурюються у світ боротьби з інтервентами, відчуваючи всю напругу та драму подій. Особливо вражає опис бойової служби крейсера «Аскольд» та його участі в Дарданелльській операції. Персонажі роману прописані дуже детально, і їхні переживання, страхи та надії стають близькими та зрозумілими.
