Events, dates, people emerge in my memory, many of whom have long since completed their journey in life. Their images, words, habits are sometimes so clear and vivid that you are simply surprised how all this is stored in memory, how amazingly ingeniously our biological computer is designed, capable of storing all these events, facts and characters. And this is not surprising, because these are memories of youth, that is, of those happy years when everything is still ahead, when you live in hope for a better future. The motto is “With a cutlass and a stethoscope.” And this is not a contradiction. I was a military doctor, and this implies a readiness to provide medical care, and, if necessary, to be a warrior. It is a great honor to be a doctor and a warrior. Thanks to fate. So, “stand in your places, unfasten the anchor, remove the moorings, full speed ahead.” The author of the book graduated from the Naval Medical Academy (Leningrad), after which he served for six years on the destroyer “Bezuderzhny” (Commander of the Navy).
