For 16 years, Lawrence Rees met with and interviewed numerous eyewitnesses and participants in the events of World War II, including former Nazis who found refuge in different countries of the world. The result of this titanic work was the multi-part documentary film of the BBC channel “Nazis: A Warning of History,” which received a number of prestigious international awards and is considered one of the most famous in the history of documentary cinema. The book, written based on the film, is an independent and significant historical work and talks about countless crimes against humanity committed by Nazis of various ranks. A significant place in the book is devoted to the atrocities of the Nazis during the war with the Soviet Union.
