Michael Adams shares an apartment with three bum neighbors. He spends his days in bed, playing computer games, leafing through newspapers or indulging in naive thoughts. And when these activities become boring to him, Michael moves to the other side of the Thames and becomes a loving husband and gentle father. For respectable Michael lives a double life: one half of the week he is an exemplary family man, and the other half he is a bachelor, shying away from family joys. He is happy, believing that he has found the golden mean between duty and pleasure. But one day the deception is revealed, and Michael's life turns into a real hell.
John O'Farrell knows how to turn the male essence inside out, without resorting to the teachings of Dr. Freud. And he makes it surprisingly funny. “There is no better man for a man” is a confession full of dark humor, subtle observations and restrained lyricism.
