Ancient Rome. 1st century BC. A young man from an aristocratic family unsuccessfully participates in a civil war, supporting the losing side, and miraculously escapes death. He begins his career in a cruel time, but ensures that the gates of Rome open before him. Later his name will become a household name for all rulers of the future. After all, the words “king”, “Caesar”, “Kaiser” remind us that the young man’s name was Caesar.
