This anthology is an appendix to the textbook “Aesthetics and Theory of Art of the 20th Century,” in which philosophical and art criticism reflection on art is considered from a historical and cultural aspect. The structure of the reader consists of three sections. The first section is composed of texts that are representative of the traditional direction in aesthetic and theoretical thought - the philosophy of art. The second section consists of texts testifying to the existence of theoretical concepts of art that arose within the boundaries of disciplines adjacent to aesthetics and art history. For the third section, some texts have been selected that present the theory of art itself and allow us to imagine how it developed within the boundaries of not only philosophy and explicit aesthetics, but also within the boundaries of art history. The anthology, like the textbook under the same name, is intended for students of various specialties in the humanities profile.
