The book is a study by Ukrainian journalist Vladimir Lutsenko, who tried to assess the contribution of the Turkic peoples to the ethnogenesis of Ukrainians. Since the Hunnic invasion of the Black Sea region in the 370s. the ancestors of modern Ukrainians were doomed to close proximity to the Turkic nomads, which lasted for more than a thousand years and could not but leave a mark on their language, culture and appearance. And today Ukrainians, without knowing it, use Turkic words, live in cities and villages with Turkic names and bear Turkic surnames, and sometimes look like typical representatives of Turkic peoples.
