"The Suram Fortress" was first published in the magazine "Tsiskari" (Zarya) for 1859 - 1860. This was the first Georgian realistic novel directed against serfdom. The external outline of the novel is the Legend of a beautiful young man who agreed to wall himself up in the wall of the Suram fortress, because only under this condition will it be able to withstand the onslaught of the enemy. In 1984, a film was made called “The Legend of the Surami Fortress”
