“Red Spider, or Seven Seconds of Eternity” by Evgeny Pryakhin is a novel written in the good traditions of Soviet science fiction, in which the past and present are miraculously intertwined. One of the foundations on which the novel is built is an issue that has long divided earthlings into two irreconcilable camps. This is the question of whether the American expedition visited the Moon in 1969, whose own original solution is proposed by the author of "Red Spider". The heroes of “Red Spider” are, at first glance, ordinary Russian people, mired in the routine of life. However, the reader soon learns that they are destined to play a key role in Russian history. Yuri Lukyanov, a teacher of physics and astronomy, is considered an eccentric among his friends: he works hard at school for a meager salary and, after a divorce, does not try to sue his wife for his property. In a world where money rules, such behavior seems at least strange. However, it is this unsilver who becomes the main character of the novel. Justice is important to him, regardless of what he has to sacrifice to restore it, and, in the end, his views resonate in the hearts of other heroes.
