A modest French “little man” with a non-French surname Trelkovsky and a bunch of internal, and external, problems finds himself a new home - a small two-room apartment on Pireneiskaya Street. It turns out that the apartment became vacant after the former tenant Simone Schul committed suicide by jumping out of the window (however, she is still alive), but in the end this is not so significant - Mr. Trelkovsky really needs housing. As a result, he receives the desired home after the early death of the former tenant. And everything, it would seem, is good, but only the neighbors... A wonderful novel on the verge of a psychological thriller and phantasmagoria, in a gloomy atmosphere of Kafkaesque absurdity.
