A closer look at the stereotypes of Soviet and post-Soviet everyday life reveals to the observer the characteristic features inherent not only to residents of communal apartments, this quintessence of Soviet life, but also dissolved in the unconscious of every person belonging to today's Russian culture. Semiotics of home space, relationships between neighbors and specific forms of psychopathology , ideas about hygiene and the fairness of the distribution of responsibilities and benefits - all this becomes the subject of research, the field of which can be defined as the “anthropology of everyday life.”
