Reginald Hill is an English writer, a resident of Yorkshire, where he settled the main characters of almost all of his novels. He became famous for his novel The Sociable Woman (1970), in which he first introduced readers to his characters - the head of the criminal investigation department, Andrew Dalziel, and his young assistant, Peter Pascoe. Readers immediately fell in love with these bright, colorful images. Hill wrote nine more novels between 1972 and 1990, including Child's Play (1987) and Ashes and Silence (1990).
