Detective Angie Pallorino's latest investigation ended in the death of a criminal, for which she was temporarily suspended from duty. From now on, Angie cannot carry a weapon with her and is obliged to visit a psychotherapist, because she has strange dreams in which church bells are ringing for her and someone is calling her to the grove. On top of everything else, the man with whom she began a romantic relationship is increasingly moves away from her because of work. Angie tries to forget about business and sort herself out, but suddenly the Royal Canadian Police contact her. The remains washed up on the ferry, and the DNA incredibly matches her genetic material. Despite the formal ban on investigating, Angie immediately takes up the case.
