The action takes place at the beginning of the 21st century in St. Petersburg. There is a commotion in a large communal apartment on Grafsky Lane. Rumors leaked that a wealthy businessman was buying an apartment. The apartment residents were divided into two camps. One half is happily packing up their things in order to quickly move to separate apartments, even outside the city, while the other half is against resettlement. The main character is Lera Nezhina, a romantic, pretty and intelligent forty-year-old woman who was born in this apartment and does not want to leave. Her whole life passed in this apartment.
