The world of Temnov and the real world shies away from simple answers. And this is exactly the world that Transcarpathian science fiction writer Mikhail Temnov paints for us in his epic cycle. His cycle “Gardens of Chaos” adequately develops the fantastic theme of the death of the Faetian civilization and the planet Phaeton, which at one time was very popular in Soviet science fiction. Mikhail Temnov develops this topic in the best traditions of the patriarchs of Russian science fiction. But the fantasy worlds of “Gardens of Chaos” are larger, more epic than the works of this theme by Kazantsev, Martynov, Rudenko. In some ways, the Universe of “Gardens of Chaos” resembles the Universe of Frank Herbert’s “Dune”. Although they are considered the standard of world fiction, the fantasy cycle of Mikhail Temnov also belongs to this kind of literature, both in the scale and epic nature of the fantastic paintings of distant worlds described, and in the style of writing.
