In mid-March 1954, the young man Pyotr Vlasenko from Ukraine travels on a Komsomol voucher to virgin lands. It cannot be said that he did this solely for ideological reasons - they promised to pay well for the work, and besides, they were now handing out one and a half thousand rubles. The guy had never seen that kind of money in his life, and he bought himself the first suit in his life, and his brother’s shoes for 96 rubles. At the end of March 1954, he arrived in the virgin lands, where he began plowing the vast expanses of Kazakhstan on a DT-54 tractor. There he had a meeting with fellow countryman Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev, with whom he would go on in life; he would also meet his love Natasha there.
