When a plague epidemic begins in the village of Im in Derbyshire in the spring of 1666, its residents make a courageous decision to isolate themselves from the outside world so that the terrible disease does not spread to neighboring villages and towns. Anna Frith, a young widow and mother of two children, is the main character of the novel, from whose lips we learn about the events of that terrible year.
