The main characters of Laura Beckitt's novel are sisters Tina and Teresa from the provincial Australian town of Clancy. They are not at all similar to each other. Teresa is attracted by the lights of big Sydney, where, it seems, you can easily achieve fame and fortune if you just want it; and Tina sees her happiness in life with her loved one. But not all dreams are destined to come true, and the most unexpected events sometimes radically change the lives of the novel’s heroes.
