The popularity of writer and journalist Jennifer Egan is growing rapidly. Her first novel, The Invisible Circus, was a great success among readers and became the basis for a film starring Cameron Diaz. The second was shortlisted for the US National Book Award. But it was her third novel, “The Citadel,” that brought Egan real fame. The book became a national bestseller. CBS Films is planning a film adaptation of it. "Citadel" is a multi-layered psychological drama. Cousins Howie and Danny, childhood friends, had not seen each other for twenty years. Over the years, the fat man Howie, who enjoyed a reputation among his peers as an eccentric, became an attractive, slender blond, became rich and married a charming girl. He acquires an ancient castle in Europe, unusually beautiful, but very neglected, and invites Danny to do the restoration. Neither one nor the other suspects what surprises the medieval towers and dungeons have in store for them.
