Yuri Shevtsov's book examines a complex and dangerous history, from the 30s of the twentieth century to the present day. There is a real mass famine of the early 30s, part of the terrible history of Stalin’s dispossession - that is, the de-peasantization of Soviet Russia. And there is a (Nazi, in essence) myth about the Holodomor, allegedly staged by “Muscovites” for the sake of exterminating Ukrainians. The book describes the famine of the early 30s in parallel with an analysis of its modern ideological interpretations. The book may be of interest to students, teachers of humanities, journalists - anyone interested in the ideological wars of our time, Russophobia and projects of a new genocide in line with Eastern European nationalism and conflicts between the West and the East.
