The book by the famous French culturologist and philosopher Marcel Enaff is dedicated to the personality, works and ideas of the outstanding ethnologist, creator of structural anthropology, Claude Lévi-Strauss - a true legend of the humanities of the twentieth century. In the first part of his work, the author tries to reconstruct a holistic and systematic idea of structural anthropology and its methods, give an internal connection of the main ideas and concepts, and outline the controversy around it in modern ethnology. The second part of the book is a brief overview of all the works of Lévi-Strauss from 1948 to 2000, many of which are very important for anthropological theory ("Elementary Structures of Kinship", "Structural Anthropology II", "View from Afar", etc.), on Russian language has not yet been translated.
