An elderly woman is discovered in a cold forest on the outskirts of the remote Swedish village of Urmberg. Her clothes are torn, her hair is disheveled, her face and bare feet are wounded. But the worst thing is that she doesn’t remember anything. This unfortunate woman is police psychologist Hanne Lagerlind-Schön. Just a few weeks earlier, she had arrived with her colleague Peter from Stockholm to investigate an old unsolved case: eight years ago, the remains of a five-year-old girl were discovered in an ancient burial ground. Hanne suffered from early-onset dementia, but hid her illness and kept a detailed diary. However, now her colleague has disappeared, the diary is lost, and Hanne herself remembers absolutely nothing about the events of the last days. Neither the police nor Hanne realize that in fact the diary was not lost without a trace. Only now it is owned by a man who cannot tell anyone about his discovery...
