Jiddu Krishnamurti (1896-1986) is one of the most prominent spiritual teachers of our time. Discovered by Theosophists as a boy in India, he was prepared by them as the new Messiah, a role he abandoned when he independently began to pursue his own spiritual quest. Traveling around the world with his teachings, giving lectures, he acquired many supporters, including prominent statesmen and intellectuals. Mary Lutyens was one of Krishnamurti’s closest and most devoted friends. She, like no one else, is capable of writing his biography. Indeed, she has written three books about Krishnamurti, but it was only after his death in 1986 that she felt able to create this book, illuminating the life and philosophy of this fascinating and complex man in its true light. Mary Lutyens is a famous writer and biographer. In addition to works on Krishnamurti, she owns the books The Lyttons in India, Millais and Ruskin and a biography of her father, the architect Edwin Lutyens.
