One of the stories (“Hostages”), included in the new book of the Lithuanian prose writer Algirdas Pocius, is historical. It recreates the events of the late 14th and early 15th centuries, when Western Lithuania found itself in the hands of the Order of the Crusaders. The other two stories and short stories reflect on the problems of post-war Lithuania, a complex, turbulent country, as well as the Lithuanian village of the 70s.
