But this is no ordinary detective story. Everything in it seems to be known from the very beginning: both the killer and the motives for the crime... But the author tries to penetrate into the psychology of all the characters, to show the motives for their actions. The technique may not be new, but following the twists and turns of events and their interpretations - and a variety of versions are given - is very entertaining. At least from the point of view of finding out: what will happen next? And at the end - an unexpected ending, strictly according to the laws of the genre. Although, in general, it is predictable: in any detective story, the killer must be caught, exposed and punished. But, probably, as the author showed, no one has ever exposed the criminal...
