V.S. Parsamov, a professor at the National University Higher School of Economics, in his book examines the ideological, political, religious, cultural and everyday aspects of the topic “Decembrists and France.” He shows the role of French liberalism in the formation of the Decembrist ideology, conducts a comparative historical analysis of educational and liberal ideas in France and Russia, and explores the role of French political culture as an intermediary in familiarizing the Decembrists with the English state-political system. All the problems posed in the book are considered against the background of the cultural and political life of Russia and France at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th centuries.
