Helene Holtzman - artist, teacher and publicist (1891–1968). After moving to Kaunas and the capture of Lithuania by the Nazis in 1941, her husband, book publisher and writer, Max Holtzman, was arrested and went missing, and her eldest daughter was shot. Until the last day of the occupation, Helene Holzman, risking her own life, together with her youngest daughter and several friends, rescues Jews from the Kaunas ghetto. Until the departure of the fascist troops from the territory of Lithuania, Helene Holtzman wrote diaries. These notes impressively describe everything that she and those she knew experienced.
