Culturologist and museologist Ksenia Surikova explores the phenomenon of the museum through the prism of architecture and proposes to consider it in the broad context of cultural transformations that influenced the roles and functions of the museum in society. Consistently examining the features of the existence of the museum in various historical periods, the author shows how, depending on the strategies of attitude towards the past, the perception of the museum object and the museum function changed, and, consequently, the typology of the museum building was built or destroyed.
