For a year and a half, Lois Chrysler and her husband, an animal cameraman, traveled through the wild mountain regions of northern Alaska, filming a film about Arctic animals.
Chrysler's book is a fascinating, vivid, poetic story about the tundra and the animals that inhabit it . The main characters of the book are wild caribou reindeer, wolves, wolverines, grizzly bears and other large and small inhabitants of the tundra.
Wolves are especially interesting and described in detail. The Chrysler couple raised seven wolf cubs, so they had the opportunity to observe the “wolf character” in development. And Chrysler reports in his book a lot of new, sometimes contradictory to established views, information about the habits and behavior of wolves.
To write a heartfelt book about a country, you have to be in love with it. Lois Chrysler does not hide her love for the Arctic and masterfully describes the joys and sorrows, affections and delights of a person who has become accustomed to this country and understands all its moods.
